Properly Power Appliances
When using electrical alliances to heat food, be especially cautious when looking for a power source.
Plug appliances directly into a wall socket whenever possible, instead of using an extension cord or power strip, which can increase the risk of electrical fire.
Also, never place a power cord under a rug or carpet, as the line can overheat and possibly spark a fire.
For large appliances, such as an electric oven or stove, avoid using extension cords. Know that indoor extension chords are not meant to be used outdoors.
And always keep any cords away from heat and from wet surfaces.
Maintain Appliances
Regular maintenance of home appliances not only ensures that appliances work properly but ensures your safety as well.
Electrical fires can start as a result of a poorly maintained appliance, such as an AC unit having dirty filters or aging components that need to be replaced.
